The run down from the Bay Area is a little over two hours on a good day, and considerably more on a tournament weekend. We quote it as one fixed fare and plan the departure around what the road is actually doing.
Through Car Week and the golf calendar we hold cars on the Peninsula for the length of a stay, with the same chauffeur across the week and drop points arranged with the venues in advance.
The Peninsula, and the road that gets you there
A little over two hours on an ordinary Tuesday. Considerably more in the middle of August, when several thousand other people have the same idea.
The coast road is the better drive and the slower one. If you have the afternoon, we will take it; if you have a dinner reservation in Carmel, we will not. It is worth saying which you would prefer when you book.
Through the August week the Peninsula does not flow, it queues. Departures are sequenced so you are moving while the general exit is still forming, and drop points are agreed with the venues rather than guessed at the barrier.
Four sets of clubs and four people do not fit the same car as four people. The vehicle is sized for what is travelling, which is a question worth answering properly at booking.

Where we collect on the Peninsula
The Lodge at Pebble Beach, The Inn at Spanish Bay and Casa Palmero. 17-Mile Drive is gated, so arrivals are handled at the gate rather than worked out on the spot, and the chauffeur knows which entrance is quickest from the direction you are coming.
La Playa Carmel in the village and Carmel Valley Ranch inland. Carmel's streets have no numbers, which catches out anyone navigating by address — pickups are agreed by corner and cross-street instead.
Monterey Plaza on Cannery Row and the Hyatt Regency Monterey by the golf course, plus the aquarium and the conference center. The waterfront is slow in season and the drop points are agreed rather than guessed.
A little over two hours from the Bay on the 101, longer and better on Highway 1. Monterey Regional Airport is the short way in, with Monterey Jet Center and Del Monte Aviation on the private side.
Two hours you get back
The drive from the Bay is long enough to matter. Spend it on calls, on sleep, or on the view — the fare is fixed either way, and the road is someone else's problem.
