It is about 120 miles from SFO to the gates at Pebble Beach, and on a clear run it takes a little over two hours. The clear run is not the one to plan for. The road passes through San José, and the hour you leave the terminal decides whether that stretch costs twenty minutes or an hour.
We track the flight rather than the booking. If you land forty minutes late the chauffeur knows before you do, and the car is in position when you reach the curb. The fare was agreed when you booked, so a slow drive costs what a fast one does.
The last part is the part people do not expect. 17-Mile Drive is gated, and where a car may set you down depends on which resort you are staying at and what is running that week. We confirm it before the day rather than at the gate.
The two hours, and what is in them
The distance never changes. What changes is the middle hour, and the last mile.
All four terminals feed onto the same road out. We take the terminal from your flight number and meet you at baggage claim with a name board, or at the curb if you would rather walk straight out — say which when you book.
The middle hour is the variable one. Southbound 101 carries the whole valley, and the difference between four o'clock and seven is not small. Where the schedule allows it, we move the departure rather than sit in it.
The last twenty miles run either over the hill on 68 or down the coast on Highway 1. One is quicker; the other is the reason people come. If you would like the coast road, say so — it needs about forty minutes more.
17-Mile Drive is gated and the resorts each have their own arrival point. We confirm which one applies to your booking, so the car goes to it rather than to the main gate and back out again.

The return is the leg that goes wrong, because a flight out of SFO means crossing the valley at whatever hour the airline chose. Booked together, the return is planned backwards from the gate rather than forwards from the hotel.
